WPC Confirms Extension of the 2025/26 Tournament Season

WPC Confirms Extension of the 2025/26 Tournament Season

The World Phygital Community is pleased to confirm an extension of the WPC 2025/26 Season. The season will now run until 15 March, moving from the original deadline of 31 January.

This extension reflects the strong level of engagement across the phygital ecosystem and the continued growth of competitions worldwide. It ensures that members have the time needed to participate fully, complete their events, and have performances accurately represented across all core disciplines.

All tournaments delivered during the extended period will count toward the official season rankings, in line with existing WPC rules and standards. While the overall structure of the season remains unchanged, the additional time provides greater flexibility for athletes, clubs, and organizers as the competitive calendar continues to expand.

Final season rankings will be confirmed and published by 30 March. These rankings will play a critical role in shaping the next stage of the competitive pathway, setting the stage for Phygital Contenders in Astana this June. Taking place across several disciplines, Phygital Contenders represents the final stage of competition before the world turns its attention to the Games of the Future 2026, also hosted in Astana later in the summer.

Dan Merkley, Chairperson and Managing Director of the World Phygital Community, said: “The extension underscores WPC’s commitment to its members and to the continued development of the phygital ecosystem. By allowing more time to compete, the season better reflects the global scale of participation and the dynamic nature of phygital sport.”

Members are encouraged to make full use of the extended window as the season builds toward its conclusion and the next phase of international phygital competition.
