A year ago today, the World Phygital Community ushered in the phygital era by unveiling the world’s first phygital ranking system, capturing the competitive drive of the 2024/2025 season.
As phygital sport continues to expand at an unprecedented speed, with a growing number of teams, athletes, and competitions worldwide, the need for a clear and transparent ranking system quickly became essential to support the scale and competitiveness of our ecosystem.
On 10 February 2025, phygital athletes competing in the GOTF Minor and GOTF Major tournaments—now known as Phygital Origins and Phygital Rivals—gained their first glimpse into their performance metrics through this pioneering framework. It paved their way to potential glory at the Games of the Future Abu Dhabi 2025, where every position in the standings represented a stride toward a shared, lofty ambition. The contests spanned four compelling disciplines: Phygital Football, Phygital Basketball, Phygital Shooter, and Phygital Dancing, each demanding exceptional skill and adaptability from its competitors.
This ranking structure has since become the cornerstone of the global phygital athlete selection process—a definitive guide for those aspiring to reach the top of their discipline. Now, as a new season approaches, anticipation mounts for the release of the 2025/2026 season rankings, set to be published on 30 March 2025.
