The 2025/26 season has been one of the most competitive in WPC history – with members across the globe delivering ranked tournaments that have raised the standard of phygital sport globally. Now the results are in.
The official WPC rankings for the 2025/26 season have been published, covering multiple tournaments held by WPC members across the four core disciplines. The rankings are presented across three categories:
- Summary Ranking of Clubs per Discipline: The rankings of all the clubs who participated in verified Phygital Origins and Phygital Rivals across the four core disciplines – Phygital Football, Phygital Basketball, Phygital Shooter and Phygital Dancing.
- Tournament Ranking of Clubs per Discipline: The rankings of the clubs that won verified Phygital Rivals tournaments or were the highest-rated club from each WPC member based on verified tournaments. Clubs ranked 1st to 4th will qualify directly for GOTF 2026. Clubs ranked 5th or below will participate in Phygital Contenders for a chance to earn a spot at GOTF 2026.
- Tournament quality rating: The rankings of verified Phygital Origins and Phygital Rivals tournaments hosted by WPC members, based on agreed criteria that measure the quality of the tournaments.

With rankings confirmed, the next step on the road to GOTF 2026 is Phygital Contenders 2026 Astana, taking place from 10-15 June 2026. Three disciplines will feature at the event – Phygital Football (16 clubs), Phygital Basketball (10 clubs) and Phygital Dancing (15 athletes). Phygital Shooter will not be part of Phygital Contenders, – all ranked clubs in that discipline qualify directly to GOTF 2026.
The clubs who qualified represent a truly global field, with teams from Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Central Asia and Europe all earning their place in Astana.
Dan Merkley, Chairperson and Managing Director of the World Phygital Community, said: “The 2025/26 cycle, marking a second year of WPC tournaments, has shown what our global community is capable of delivering, with consistent, high-quality competition across regions and a clearly established pathway in place. Seeing new clubs qualify for Phygital Contenders and the Games of the Future 2026 is a milestone, reflecting the collective effort of our members and the continued growth of phygital sport worldwide. With Phygital Contenders set to take place in Astana in June, the qualification pathway to GOTF 2026 is now firmly in motion, and we look forward to seeing which clubs earn their place and compete at the highest level.”
