A historic day for the World Phygital Community.
Thank you to all Members who joined us in Abu Dhabi for the first General Meeting in WPC history.
Dan Merkley, Chairperson of the World Phygital Community, introduced the General Meeting with an overview of the success of the World Phygital Community since its inception in June 2024, highlighting the rapid growth of WPC: 119 members in 115 countries, a unified tournament season, WPC+, the Incentive Program, and the first Advisory Council.
Dan continued by thanking all members for their feedback on the organization this year, expressing how important and essential it is to the governance and smooth running of the WPC as it develops even further. With that in mind, representatives from WPC members around the world gathered to align on shared priorities and shape the future of phygital sport. The opportunity was taken to conduct a series of votes, on a new blockchain-based system, allowing members to vote on a series of proposals that aim to deliver greater member governance, transparency and organizational policies.
As a result of the votes, the following was agreed:
- The community confirmed a unified approach to rankings, qualifications, and communication – creating a fair and consistent global system.
- Members backed new transparency and oversight mechanisms to strengthen trust and governance.
The decisions reached today will guide the 2025/26 season and support the continued development of the World Phygital Community, and tournaments such as Phygital Contenders and the Games of the Future.
Additionally, the WPC members attending the General Meeting, participated in a wide range of discussions about the future of the organization, as well as reinforcing the direction of phygital sport with clear principles, shared vision and the strength of an international community working as one.
As we look ahead, together, we are building a transparent and dynamic global ecosystem prepared for the opportunities ahead.
As the Games of the Future Abu Dhabi 2025 powered by ADNOC starts, stay tuned for more updates and highlights of clubs from WPC members as they fight in the core phygital disciplines.
It is going to be an exciting end of 2025 and we’re looking forward to moving WPC forward in 2026. Thank you for being part of this incredible movement!
