Phygital Football
Introducing
Phygital Football
Phygital Football is an innovative sport that blends the excitement of digital gaming with the physical energy of traditional football. Teams face off in two stages – one on the screen and one on the field – creating a fast-paced and dynamic competition. This combination makes the sport thrilling for both gamers and athletes, offering a unique way to experience the best of both worlds. Combining strategy, teamwork, and competition, Phygital Football has something for everyone.
Teams
Each team consists of five to eight athletes including players, goalkeepers, and substitutes. Teams can engage more people, such as coaches, team officials, and technical personnel. The number and composition of these is determined by the WPC organizer.

Format

In this stage, there are four players in each team competing in a console game. Two compete in the first half, two in the second half.

The match continues on a football field, with the results of the digital stage carrying over. On the field, teams play with four outfield players and one goalkeeper. There are also three substitutes (two outfield players and a goalie). Substitutions follow Futsal rules.
Goals from both stages are combined and the winner is the team with the most goals. If the score is tied, the match is decided by a real-life penalty shoot-out where teams take three kicks each from the 6m mark. If the score is still tied after three penalty kicks each, penalties continue until one team has scored one more goal than the other with the same number of shots taken.
Further guidelines

- The Physical stage is played on a smaller-sized football field with perimeter boards.
- Equipment needed in the physical stage includes footballs and a team sports kit, while consoles and video games are required for the digital stage.
