WPC tournaments outside official calendar

Dear Partners,

First of all, I would like to thank you for your involvement and assistance in developing the Phygital movement.

Together, we have brought about the start of a new era for the World Phygital Community, and from this point we shall undoubtedly see it expand rapidly and help bring more young people into the phygital lifestyle.

With the announcement of the United Arab Emirates as host of the Games of the Future 2025, WPC will soon be kicking off the 2024-2025 In-country Regional Qualifiers and National tournaments season, a core aspect of the team selection process that leads up to The Games of the Future.

Thanks to a huge interest in hosting and organizing In-Country Regional Qualifiers and National tournaments, some of you are interested in adapting the timeline that was presented for this process at the World Phygital Summit in Istanbul recently. Accordingly, WPC is ready to share the Drafts of the Rulebook and Regulation on the ranking system in Phygital Sports (by the link). Inside the Ranking System document you will find the conditions under which tournaments can be held outside the stated dates.

Moreover, the WPC is currently in the process of developing tournament application forms. Application form for those who host only National Tournament will be presented by 30 June 2024. Application form for regional and national tournaments will be presented by 20th July 2024, as well as full structure of reporting documentation.

Tournaments held outside of the specified dates outlined by WPC in the Ranking System shall be assessed for ranking status at a later stage, and only if held in accordance with technical rules specified in the Rulebook. Please note, however, that you shall only be able to prepare reporting after the presentation of the Reporting System.

Importantly, the WPC Ranking System contains a system of penalties for holding tournaments outside specified dates and deadlines designated by the WPC. Please take this into consideration while planning your future activities.

Ranking competitions can be held in the following four disciplines:

• Phygital football
• Phygital basketball
• Phygital dance
• Phygital shooters

By the link you shall also find a technical rules form which needs to be completed and returned to WPC in order to conduct tournaments. Filling out the technical rules templates is required within three business days after filling out the online form. Please send the completed technical rules form for the discipline(s) you have chosen to the email: competition@worldphygital.org.

We also request that you submit a detailed plan and schedule for any proposed In-country Regional Qualifiers and National Competitions to WPC and that an official representative(s) of WPC is invited to inspect the tournament’s quality and compliance with WPC rules and regulations at the point of a National Tournament finals.

Please be advised that any National Tournaments should conclude by the 30th of January, 2025 prior to the start of International Qualification Tournaments.
